Deep Sea World is built within a flooded quarry which collects rainwater and some seawater that seeps through the rocks at high tide. The water is brackish and enclosed and so can the elements (rain, wind and sunshine) can have a big impact on the appearance of the water body. The colour of the water can change throughout the year because of sediments being stirred up by winds blowing around the cliffs and the growth of algae. You may encounter it appearing green, red or brown depending on the prevailing seasonal conditions.
